Apparently, some of my ancestors were either Indian slaves or Free so called civilized Native Americans or Free “blacks” during that time.
Many of the Native Americans women married, my white English/NW Europe Ancestors, and dropped their Indian names on both sides of my family.
This was discussed by my Dad’s ancestors, grandparents and great uncles/aunts.
It was never discussed or admitted by my Mother’s ancestors.
If there were Indians, it was never discussed.
However, standard Genealogy documents such as birth certificates, marriage licenses, ownership of property, being in the military and death certificates showed well over 100 documented Native Americans.
Yet, there is no Native American DNA evidence.
However, our grand kids, grand nieces/nephews show 1-2% African DNA. We are able to trace some of that probable African DNA to some Free Blacks in S. Carolina and Virginia in the 1700’s.
Again zero Native America DNA in our systems, yet!
