Administered: 218,947,643 (8,018,365 J&J)

For the 24 hours since the prior report:
Doses Delivered: 4.2 Million (OK) (No J&J - pause in effect)
Total Administered: 3 million (Weak) (25,000 J&J - despite the pause)
New People Receiving 1st Dose: 1.3 Million (Very Weak)
People Fully Vaccinated: 1.7 Million (OK)
Strong inventories on hand (63 million).
% Total Population with at least a First Shot: 40.9% (up 0.4)
Those ≥ 18 Years of Age (Adults): 52% (up 0.5)
Those ≥ 65 Years of Age: 80.7% (up 0.1) (66% - up 0.5)
Cases downward, Deaths and New Hospitalizations flat on this report.
A third slow day in a row administering shots, but not as slow as yesterday, which itself was faster than the day before.
The seven-day average for cases seems to have turned downward. The other measures (hospitalizations and deaths) lag that one.
J&J vaccine pause could be lifted this weekend: https://nypost.com/2021/04/22/johnson-johnson-vaccine-reportedly-could-be-available-this-weekend/

In six days, I will join the “fully vaccinated” community. My immunity should be good around two weeks after that.
We need for 198 million people to be fully vaccinated before herd immunity starts to kick in. Of course, herd immunity will not help when people who refuse to take Covid-19 seriously continue to congregate without masks and breathe in each other’s faces. But the rest of us will be able to get back to normal.

Isn’t congregating without masks normal? It was pre-plandemic.

I’m not asking you specifically, but all we hear about is new cases. Why aren’t there any more reports on the number of deaths?

The linked site also tracks deaths. This daily thread is focused on vaccinations.

Isn’t congregating without masks normal? It was pre-plandemic. In the case of a pandemic pathogen that is spread through the respiratory route, the masks and social distancing were the only ways to protect the majority of the population against disease. Congregating without masks was normal before there was a serious and deadly airborne pathogen circulating.
I expect that the people who fail to take Covid-19 seriously will continue to drive new cases. They won't wear masks properly. They won't observe social distancing. They won't get the vaccine. And they don't mind breathing other people's air, which is how the virus spreads. So, among those people, Covid-19 will continue to circulate. It's similar to the case with measles outbreaks, which typically occur in areas where there are high numbers of anti-vaxxers.

I have been tracking deaths and new cases almost daily for over a year.
As of this morning, there were 31,862,987 deaths and 569,404 deaths total in the US. This was 68,154 new cases and 921 new deaths in a 24 hour period. The numbers of new cases and deaths have been trending downward since the winter holiday season (Nov-Jan). They are still higher than they were before the BLM riots drove up transmission.

We’re back to normal and in many places mask-free here in TX. And not social distancing.
Even my MD’s office does not require masks.
The scamdemic is OVER.
Those of us without symptoms will be out and about without limits, whether you people like it or not. Asymptomatic people are not meaningful transmission vectors for any virus.

We’re back to normal and in many places mask-free here in TX. Really? I've been in TX since December (haven't updated my FR page yet), and I see that most places still require masks and most people still wear them. Every time I go to a doctor's office, everyone is wearing a mask. So don't try to tell me that Texas is back to pre-pandemic practices.
People with Covid-19 are contagious up to 5 days before symptoms appear. How many people are you potentially infecting by not wearing your mask and being around others who don't wear their masks? Like I said, transmission will continue with people like you who refuse to take Covid-19 and the measures to control its spread seriously.

They require masks, but I don’t wear one. If it is required to enter a store, I typically lower it once inside.
I keep my immune system charged naturally with a protocol provided by my wellness MD
We are on different planets as to health. It’s a free country, not a technocracy, and I have no intention of playing the scamdemic game.
Yes lots of people, especially on the left, wearing masks (which do nothing). But out in the country, where I was this weekend, almost no one was wearing one. It was awesome.

"the Pfizer vaccine is an mRNA vaccine, an untested form of vaccine"Wrong.
Pfizer went through full Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 clinical trials. Trial participants got their first doses of vaccine over a year ago. Both human and animal studies have been conducted. President Trump stated that the Pfizer vaccine had passed the "gold standard of safety testing".
"produces new proteins"
It produces one protein: the S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. That's one small part of the surface of the virus. The virus itself produces those same proteins during infection. It just also produces the rest of the virus too and causes a lot of damage because it's self-replicating. The mRNA vaccine material has a half-life of 10 hours. Within a week, it's completely gone from your system. What remains are the antibodies that destroy SARS-CoV-2 and prevent COVID-19.
"proteins that can potentially insert into the human genome"
Wrong. That doesn't even make any sense. Proteins aren't part of your genome. Your genome is made up of nucleotides. Proteins are not. That's like saying your car might grow a leg because you sat in it. That's ridiculous nonsense. Cars don't work that way. Cars are made of car parts. Genes are made of nucleotides. Proteins are made of amino acids. Completely different.
Does it ever become tiring being this wrong all the time?

“Why aren’t there any more reports on the number of deaths?”
You can see the trend lines on Deaths here: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#trends_dailytrendsdeaths
First come cases, then typically hospitalizations will follow a bit behind those changes, and deaths a bit behind that.
So cases are the leading indicator - the early warning of changes.
But the relationship between case numbers and deaths can change over time, and that could be significant.
For example, better treatments (like the Regeneron antibody cocktail) might significantly reduce the fatality rate of cases. That has been happening.
New strains might be more or less fatal. So far, the notable variants here (UK, S. African and Brazilian) are more infectious, but not more deadly.
Changes in the fatality rate could also be caused by vaccination making breakthrough cases less fatal, or by reducing the percentage of those most vulnerable to die from COVID (the elderly), from among the new cases. That last we have been seeing in the USA, UK, Israel and Chile.
One Freeper who has been working with COVID patients said that it was remarkable how many fewer elderly are now among the new patients. (and COVID cases overall have mostly cleared out of his hospital)

“Does it ever become tiring being this wrong all the time?”
In the former KGB Headquarters, over the entry to the Directorate responsible for spreading disinformation, was the motto “Tell them what they want to hear”.
There is a natural tendency to accept information less critically, if it agrees with pre-existing assumptions - but even more powerfully, if it gratifies a desire we have (like to be proven right on an issue).
That is something I would particularly caution our friend ransomnote against.
