No one watches that show anyway.
The awards shows have been losing viewership for some years, and the pandemic has made it worse. We haven't watched any for some years. There are still hard-core celebrity addicts, but many many have gotten tired of being preached to when someone gets their chance at the mike. Just say "Thank You" and leave out your politics.
I'm guessing there won't be a red carpet this year with all the celebrities walking next to each other and doing unmasked interviews.
I wonder just how many people even went to the movies this year. Among conservatives, the answer is probably zero. So the actors have no chance to develop good will. The good will that allows them to listen to celebrities’ constant whining and complaining about everything.
As for the apparent intelligence of the virus, I bet if you put a virus in front of a computer, given enough time, Covid would eventually write some Shakespeare.
