a lot I have is gifts from kids and grandkids that I won’t get rid of.
Oh Rusty - I have so much of that stuff as well. I can’t bear to throw anything out, even though the “kid” is standing right there, 34 years old, packing up her own artwork and telling me to throw it out lol.
I have these two loons (not the kids, the birds) that my daughter and son made me one day when they were only about 8 and 6 years old. They were playing near the ditch at the old house and the soil was clay - you could open a brick yard. Well they scooped mud out of the ditch and formed these two really nicely done loons. They dried out beautifully and I tied little pieces of that straw like stuff around their necks. Those things are my favourite pieces lol! They look quite nice.
Nor should you. 😃 Since I don’t have kids or grandkids, I’m in a totally different situation of not having people give me things, or me wanting to hand down items to someone I care about. My thing is having to have friends/strangers get rid of my stuff once I’m gone.
I’m not a minimalist by any stretch. But I definitely need to start paring down. If I get the travel trailer like I want, I’ll still have lots of stuff to get rid of. I could get some type of storage unit, but I plan on being on the road for 10 years. Nothing I have is worth $7200 ($60 a month for 120 months). Be better off getting rid of everything not in the travel trailer, saving the money each month, and buying what I want when setting up housekeeping again.
