I think it’s more about pressure from the business and corporate community in Chicago to stop the riots and violence. One thing about the Dalys - yes they were Democrats but they kept the city humming and they wouldn’t have tolerated these riots that are hurting the city today.

While Daly was Mayer, my dad had several restaurants in Chicago. Made regular “contributions” to union guys who came to his office and asked for “contributions” to city workers’ health funds. I was there one day visiting his office when he did that. Pulled out the checkbook, winked at me, and wrote the check. Daly always lived up to his word, kept dad’s trucks moving while teamsters were on strike, etc. etc.

Daly was the last “good” crooked dem mayor. Really kept the lid on crime at least where he thought it mattered.

Lightfoot? No one can count on her for anything, not even other blacks who murder one another on a daily basis.
