In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth then he rested from his work and said it is all good. Then the fall, Adam defaulted on his position of authority and Satan took authority over the world; then the sons of God looked at the daughters of men, and they produced giants who were violent. God said he would not always strive with mankind so he put a hundred and twenty year age limit to life. But he was grieved by the violence and corruption and decided to wipe out mankind.
One man, Noah, found grace in the eyes of the Lord! He was commanded to make a boat out of gopher wood and it took him one hundred and twenty years to make. When all the animal life and Noah's family were safe in side God shut the door. After forty days and night of rain everything that had breath died. When the ark landed on the mountains of Ararat. God did not want Noah and his family to see the devastation. God made a covenant to never again destroy the earth by flood. However, the cycle of violence continued, in time the children of Israel said on their own they could keep the law when it was written on stone but they could not see the true intent of that law which was to make them realize they could not keep it and needed to rely on God to save them. They tried for a millennia and a half but fell further out of God's will.
In the fullness of time God the Father sent His Son Jesus to fulfill the law and pay for all mankind's debt of sin. He had to pursue men's hearts to make the violence stop.
At the cross, when you see a movie of the Crucifixion, it is painful and moves us with compassion to see how much love Jesus pursued us with. When He finished His work and returned to His father and His place of rest, He never stopped acting on our behalf. He is still our Intercessor, giving us a new nature as children of God to all who accept Him as Savior. When we pursue Him we have peace and love; loving God produces love for others. Now we are pure, washed on the inside.
We have an antique claw foot bathtub in our yard filled with flowers. When I was growing up in a family with eleven kids, the first one who pursued the Saturday night bath got the clean hot water, the rest, well, didn't. Today I have the freedom in my own house to pursue relaxation and pleasure in my own soaking tub.
Those who choose not to have their sins washed away by the simple act of accepting the paid-in-full offer accomplished by Jesus only continue to grow more violent and dirty. I ponder Gods' thoughts as He sees the violence in the world today. It is not His frustration with mankind always pursuing more possessions to the point of making war to gain them that will enact the next step in separating the clean from the dirty. It is God loving His children that will cause the rapture to happen, He will pursue us and take us home. Once in His final return when the new heavens and earth are made it is the final destruction of evil! Then His plan for peace and love will continue for eternity.
We bought a piece of land in a huge natural subdivision; it has a huge lake and clear green creeks. We bought a boat for the lake big enough to fit our family. I had dreams of building a cabin and having it be a place where our family could gather and enjoy summer activities. When our granddaughter first rode in the boat when Papa got it flying across the water she said “its going to blow me off”, so my daughter and I held onto her, “we have you safe, dear”. But the restrictive bylaws about building were exclusive to the point of excess. We owned a property but we did not possess the freedom to pursue our dreams of a home. We had to rethink what made the dream; it was pursuing loving relationships with our family. It was pursuing the will of God to bless our family. We worked hard in our younger years and served in the military and eventually we were able to purchase a small farm and with love an patience we built it into a sort of paradise for us.
As spring arrives, all the plants have their own timetable of blooming and our land becomes a garden of fragrant color. We love the river near us so we are going to trade in our lake boat for a river boat, we won't own a river property because of regular flooding but the river has many put-ins so we can enjoy a variety of stretches to enjoy. I seek to pursue after God and see His creation out on the river away from the news of violence sitting in a boat and floating in the current watching the fish swim by and watching the old trees on the banks is a recharging of my spiritual side.
As age pursues my physical body I can only control my spiritual possession. I try to love God and spend as much time with him as I can. Now my husband and I are back to where we began at, mostly the two of us spending time together. It is such a pleasure to be with him in quietness reflecting on our younger years.
Godliness with contentment is great gain! In our possession is some wisdom gained over time and we try to share it and prepare our younger ones. In seed time and harvest this family found grace. We seek a heavenly kingdom yet to come; since no one knows when the last hour is, only that God is giving people time to repent until the time when things are set right.
We have made our home into a bower where our family can come back home and we can hold our loved ones. There is so much comfort that we will not have to experience the grief of seeing our life die rather when that trumpet sounds gather in excitement, the time has come, hold hands, the Lord is coming to meet us in the sky!
Good story. Continued blessings and healings from Jesus Christ. Faith, Family, Country!
Peace! Be Still!......Jesus!
“I can only control my spiritual possession.”
Or possessions. The story about not being able to build a cabin is a testament.
