The U.S. Supreme Court said on Monday that it won’t take up a case from several Republicans challenging changes to election rules in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
The case was brought by a former Republican congressional candidate, Jim Bognet, and four individual voters who argued the state high court exceeded its authority when it ordered the expansion of ballot deadlines amidst the pandemic.
The ruling was unsigned, meaning it was rejected in whole rather than with a vote among all of the Justices.

After nearly six hours of closing arguments and rebuttal Monday, two alternates were dismissed and the jury of seven women and five men was led away by a deputy for deliberations.
Afterward, defense attorney Eric Nelson called for a mistrial, citing immense media exposure, particularly a comment by Democratic U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters over the weekend in which she said while in the Twin Cities that protesters should get “more confrontational” if there is no guilty verdict.
“I’ll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result on this whole trial being overturned,” Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill said, denying the motion while acknowledging that Nelson’s concerns were legitimate.

Supreme Court rejects Pennsylvania GOP mail-in ballot challenge
Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Samuel A. Alito, and Justice Neil M. Gorsuch would have granted the case, saying the question over whether state legislatures should dictate the manner of elections over non-legislative officials should be decided.
With a unanimous ruling like this denying to hear the PA congressional candidate’s suit, why would nadler need to pack any more votes on the SCOTUS?
