U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s reported $2 million book deal is drawing criticism from legal experts who say its size and timing create bad optics for a court that is already in the political crosshairs.

The advance, first reported by Politico, would be the largest ever for a Supreme Court justice, topping the $1.5 million Justice Clarence Thomas received for his 2007 memoir and the $1.175 million advance Justice Sonia Sotomayor got for hers, published in 2013.

Both books became best-sellers.

This book would emerge unusually soon for a justice who joined the court only six months ago and has just two majority opinions to her name. Barrett, 49, won Senate confirmation to succeed the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg right before the election after a rushed and bitter fight. The third and final nominee of President Donald Trump, she didn’t receive any Democratic support.

Payoff?

you betcha!. IMHO every book deal...EVERY SINGLE ONE...given to a politician or other public 'servant' is a payoff. Who even reads the ghost written garbage anyway?

Seen on gab:

In my community a group of Patriots including myself, are working hard to change the corruption here locally. It starts local. This is where We The People can really make a change. We hope to have them all stripped from their positions sometime this year. Things are looking bright. We have served Mayors, Sheriffs, police officers, business owners. Now we are going to get many through their bonds. We are reminding them that we are the government and they work for us.

.........

They truly believe they are better than you. Morally superior. Intellectually superior.

When they talk about how you need to be better, they mean “be like me.”

Don’t buy it.

Don’t bow to it.

Until the weight of the law comes behind it, this is stuff that only works on insecure people who want to be liked by those who hate them.

Unfortunately, because so many people are insecure and want to be liked by those who hate them, these tactics are starting to get the weight of the law behind them.

Be ready.

Reflect on these two seemingly paradoxical truths:

You’re tougher than you think.
You’re weaker than you think.

Beware of safety. It’ll get you maimed or killed.
.............

Correct. School Boards (and Superintendents) HATE public relations nightmares! Parents and students have A LOT OF POWER against these tyrants. (former Secretary to a Superintendent for many many years here).
...........

The answer is “Examine their annual budget.” If they’re spending more than they’re TAXING, well then as they say, “There’s your sign.” Another key indicator of corruption is a lack of transparency on municipal bonds and their corresponding legislative bills, aka “Sweetheart Deals.”
