Born and raised Catholic. Went to Catholic school, church on Sunday, prayers before meals and bed, many priests were friends of the family and grandpa’s aunt was a nun. At this point in my life I look only to God himself, I absolutely refuse to go anywhere near a church so a man in a white dress with strange symbols on it can preach at me. I don’t trust any of them anymore.

If anyone remembers the Exorcist T.V. Show (wasn’t on long maybe 3 seasons at most). That show felt like a warning, all the higher ups from bishops, nuns, to deep pocket donors were in on the corruption and demonization of the world. So similar to the world we’re living in.

you sound like me....Catholic grammer school, Catholic HS and nursing school....CYO...Catholic Family Organization, where Catholic parents would meet at each others house, brothers were choir boys and altar boys, my dad was a strong tenor in the main choir..

processions...we always had processions...Knights of Columbus..

..we once in a great while have the priests up to the house...

my mom's favorite pastor was a Fr. Donnelly, who brought a nice decanter bottle of whiskey for my father, and it has a music box in it....

so trusting...so believing....

I think most nuns and priests were okay back then.....something happened in the 60's...too many funny men were allowed into the seminary....they destroyed them...

I take your point but there are many extremely good priests, nuns, and donors in the Church. Even the apostles had a viper among them.

One very nice priest told me once, when I voiced concerns about Francis, “Just keep your focus on Jesus Christ and His words and you will be alright.”

These days, I watch what’s going on on the altar at Mass, and ignore the priest. Thanks to YouTube Mass, I can even skip the often insipid homilies.
