Well, I know that Free Republic and Mr. Robinson are pro-men in blue - so I would love to petition them to purge our group of these undesirables. I would not want for an officer to come to read at our historically pro-authority site and go away with a tear in his eyes because he and his badge might appear to be unwelcome here. They have enough enemies without finding them here as well.
Free Republic is and always has been in my reading a friend to law enforcement.
Mistakes are going to happen as we saw with the taser v. weapon situation - and I’ve no doubt that the officer accused of manslaughter is beyond grief for what happened.
Our police leave their own families unprotected in order to protect us - and I laud them for their service.
Why don't you name them so others know what you're talking about. Or at least quote some examples with a link.

I would hope that such a purge never happens. Free Republic is, of course, a conservative site. But within that parameter, JimRob allows for a lot of give and take. I’m very grateful for that!
Please permit me to offer an example from my own experience here. I am a retired urban public high school teacher. And I’m proud of my profession. Like most of my colleagues, I tried hard to get difficult city kids on the right track. It was tough work.
Yet some folks here call all public school teachers bums and slackers. I’ll be honest with you, that always stung. But I never wanted any of those folks to disappear! Instead I would try to engage them, and point out where their thinking was wrong. Then they would hopefully learn something. And often in their responses I would learn something!
Bottom line, as I see it: Polite discussions are good. Purges, maybe not so good.
I agree when it comes to small town police and rural police etc. Urban city cops are anti gun, democrats and not a friend of the right.
