I would hope that such a purge never happens. Free Republic is, of course, a conservative site. But within that parameter, JimRob allows for a lot of give and take. I’m very grateful for that!
Please permit me to offer an example from my own experience here. I am a retired urban public high school teacher. And I’m proud of my profession. Like most of my colleagues, I tried hard to get difficult city kids on the right track. It was tough work.
Yet some folks here call all public school teachers bums and slackers. I’ll be honest with you, that always stung. But I never wanted any of those folks to disappear! Instead I would try to engage them, and point out where their thinking was wrong. Then they would hopefully learn something. And often in their responses I would learn something!
Bottom line, as I see it: Polite discussions are good. Purges, maybe not so good.
I agree when it comes to small town police and rural police etc. Urban city cops are anti gun, democrats and not a friend of the right.

Of course there were/are some that voice dissatisfaction in how a police officer reacts to a situation where he only has seconds to make a life and death decision - I am not referring to these people at all. You know of whom I am speaking. You know that there are some that they relish any opportunity to dish on the police. You also know that not every one that posts here are true patriots but are plants from liberal groups. I’ve no doubt that we have AntiFas and BLMs here that live for any moment to throw doubt and dissension.
Yea, I’d love to see those pukes cancelled.
This forum is for certain a minority of freepers like me who sometime questions police actions
The law and order folks here simply don’t like opinions that differ from theirs

I checked the previous thread about THIS story and didn’t see any posts from you there.
The point is that every story (and specific thread) has it’s nuances and everyone here comes from a different set of life experiences so painting with a broad brush does nothing but instigate.

Undoubtedly the 13 year-olds mother will be crying on camera as she thinks of the millions that will flow her way. Why was a 13 year old hanging around with a known criminal at 2 am? They may have been shooting at cars. He ran down an alley with a gun in his pocket, then turns around, maybe after ditching the gun. I don’t think it any loss to have one less 13 year-old gangbanger in the world.

You are welcome, FRiend. Unfortunately, however, there are still a few that are boisterously proclaiming their right to do it. Maybe their mind will be changed when they watch an officer gunned down while trying to protect them, or be “forced” to thank the officer that pulled their daughter out of a wrecked car and administered to her the breath of life long enough for the medics to save her life.

Man, there is a lot of that going around on all sides.
I don’t worry about it. I think everyone should have a say and be free to do so without retribution here or elsewhere. Btw, with me it’s not a matter of pro-cop or anti-cop. I like to look at the evidence at hand and make an honest impartial comment or assessment.
I wonder what this cop thinks about Geraldo’s idea of carrying his sidearm on his weak side.
