25 people were crammed into this SUV

The authorities in Southern California were called to the scene of a devastating crash along a state highway early Tuesday morning, finding a dozen people dead, some of whom had been thrown from an S.U.V. from the force of a collision with a tractor-trailer. They found injured survivors wandering the site, and one victim died later at a hospital.

Hours later, as helicopter footage showed the wreckage of the S.U.V. almost wrapped around the front of the truck, officials began to outline an account of what happened. On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol officials said the 13 people who died in the crash were among 44 migrants apparently smuggled through a large breach in the border wall into California’s Imperial Valley before dawn on Tuesday.

Here’s what we know so far

What Happened?

Surveillance footage reviewed by the Border Patrol showed two vehicles — a red Chevrolet Suburban and a maroon Ford Expedition S.U.V. — traveling near a 10-foot gap in the 18-foot-high steel bollard border fence early Tuesday. The Suburban apparently burst into flames after crossing through the fence. The Ford Expedition continued.

Shortly after 6 a.m. local time, the S.U.V. and a tractor-trailer collided on a California highway, State Route 115, on the outskirts of Holtville, Calif., about 40 miles west of the Arizona border and about 12 miles from the border with Mexico. The truck was heading north on the highway when the S.U.V., traveling west, pulled in front of the truck at an intersection, officials said.

There were 25 people inside the S.U.V., Omar Watson, the chief of the California Highway Patrol’s border division, said at a news conference. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found 12 people dead.

You have to ask?

Helicopters, dozens of first responders, investigators, collision scene reconstructionists, paramedics, lot of people in hospitals, lots of people in intensive care units, etc...The cost of this will go on for *years*.

Jao Bai-Din and Gavin Newsom are both active contributors to these deaths. The two must hate Hispanics.

We'll never know how many of them were wearing "Joe Biden" T-Shirts.

In addition, the cost of the totaled tractor trailer, injuries to the driver, the trucks cargo load, insurance costs, ID’ing and transporting bodies, transportation of all the severely injured, countless hours of reports, attorneys, burials, tow truck services, lawsuits, court services, on and on and on.

... and it would have been 26, but they couldn’t get the glove compartment unlocked (/rimshot).

Is the truck driver OK?

That's pretty much my only concern as well.

Is this the difference between a plain burrito versus a fire-roasted chimichanga?

And yeah, that's the consideration invaders deserve. The harsh stacked deck of Antiquity has simply dealt a fresh hand.
