One way our culture has changed is that there is a lack of independent spirit in the culture. Especially in the younger generation there is such insecurity and fear of being "blocked" or "unfriended" that people will say and believe anything to avoid that "trauma".

It is as though the "mean girls" in high school never grew up. No one dare have an independent thought or express an opinion contrary to the prevailing "group think".

It really is another spinoff of a culture that worhships "self" above all else.

It’s gone beyond being blocked and unfriended. Now it’s gone to destruction of livelihood and property. The high school mean girl has become the Stasi informant.
