I used to imitate his accent, which he really liked.
Because he thought it was spot on.
Then he did an American accent to show me how he perceived how we talk.
It was so good, and so over-the top ridiculous, that I thought it was one of the funniest things I'd ever heard.
Yes, we DO talk funny.
An old friend of mine, a Black guy who back in the day would make Bobby Lashley from the WWE look like Don Lemon. I nicknamed him Magilla and he’d laugh and poke fun right back at me. We never took offense because we knew it was all in fun.
LOL, of COURSE we do. EVERYONE sounds funny to someone else...:)
I moved up to blue New England, and I had a Virginia accent which isn’t all that offbeat, but to my fellow 11th graders, it was hilarious to them. They used to good naturedly make fun of my accent, and all I could do was grin and bear it! It didn’t kill me or psychologically damage me. (that I know of)
That USED to be known as the “spice of life”, now it is just hateful to snowflakes.
AND... you became a freeper! You have risen to the top of the political intelligence heap!
For some reason they just love it.
I'm from Ohio, so I have a midwestern accent, which translates into "generic American".
I don't *think* it sounds unusual at all, but it probably does.
