“Does anyone know where the love of God goes/When the waves turn the minutes to hours?” (Gordon Lightfoot, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”) The SS Edmund Fitzgerald
Last Summer, we were going into St. Catherine’s Sound in Georgia when we were overtaken by a collapsing Thunderstorm with 50+mph winds. We’re on a 41 ft sailboat, motoring as we were going into the sound, and, had the sails stowed. Fortunately, the winds were coming straight out the sound, and, all we had to do is keep going straight. It was the longest 15 minutes I’ve had in a long time.
We’re now in the Vero Beach Mooring field, and, that same series of storms came through here with 60 mph winds. We were healing over quite a bit. It’s odd to be looking at the far side of the cabin and realize you are looking UP to see it.
