That’s a 25-mph average speed. Used to be that local trains had a 40-mph average speed or higher when the private sector ran them.

The Metro North from PT. Jervis to Penn Station is at least a 3 hour ride on a good day. It used to take us just over 2 hrs by car. Though the train is a nice somewhat scenic ride, IF you're not in a hurry. Kinda defeats the purpose of calling it a commuter line.🤔
