Agreed. But what nags at me is that Floyd was handcuffed at the time. What damage could he have done if he somehow got out of a looser restraint? Maybe he’d just stumble around until he was taken to the ground again.
And that’s thing about using force, be it your fists, a knee to the back, or some sort of weapon. You’re only supposed to use the minimum force necessary.
Did Chauvin use only the minimum force necessary? I dunno. And yes, I know that a hostile crowd was gathering. That made matters worse. So I’m not saying Chauvin is a murderer. I’m just trying to sort this all out.
The defense proved that even handcuffed perps who suddenly come to are a danger, and if they bet loose can hurt innocent bystanders, and endager the public and police.
Yes, Chauvin did use mini al force for the situation that was rapidly unfolding before him when floyd villent,violent, resisted. It was proven and ad itted to by the prosecution’s own witnesses that the restraint used by Chauvin was the least brutal when it came to controlling a very large drugged out suspect. They proved it was much more humane tha other Pproved methods such as beating a resisting suspect til, they give up and comply, using night clubs, black jakcs, batons, etc.
The defense has really done an excellent job laying out how that Chauvin used the least force necessary and for as long as necessary given the facts of the arrests, and given the fact that the ambulance, which was immediately called, was on its way and almost there.
The defense also made the state’s witnesses admit that the use of the restraint was necessary given the increasing hostilities of the crowd. The knee leaves the cops hands free to ejlp ward off attacks by the crowd IF that were to happen, which given the situation, was a very possible possibility.
Even the paramedics drove away fro the scene because the crowd was getting so hostile acting
Really, the defense lays out all those facts, and has gotten the state’s own witnesses to admit almost everything that exonerated Chauvin, much to the dismay of the ‘cops are racist murdrrers’ anti-cop crowd hoping to convict him.
The defense pretty much made the case that Chauvin is innocent during the prosecution’s witness session. Now they, the defense, have their own witnesses to further cement the case for Chauvin. They have addressed all the common complaints by folks who thought the videos showed a white cop killing an innocent black man while in custody. Many folks don’t understand that drugged out perps. Even passed out drugged out perps always present a very very real danger, and must be secured properly before they can be worked on by medical personnel.
The defense did an excellent job proving that Chauvin did everything g by the book and as little force as could be given the increasing hksti,hostile, and also the size of George. Ther are many cases where unconscious people suddenly regain consciousness, still In a drugged out state, with incredible strength, and fight with officers and are a danger.
And remember, all this has to be decided in seconds, during very intense situations, with an increasingly hostile crowd surrounding you while you work to subdue and keep subdued someone who has proven they Wil, fight you if given a 1/2 q chance. Even handcuffed perps can still be very dangerous
