Family is supposed to teach you those things (preferably parents, but not always possible). Changing a tire, sewing a button, cooking spaghetti, peeling potatoes, balancing a checkbook, etc. are all basic things one should learn from family before adulthood. Traditionally, women would learn more advanced housekeeping skills in home economics and guys would do shop class or something like that, but basic life skills were covered in the home. But tradition is a microaggression or something.
I was sick and tired of homemaking so come high school, I demanded they let me into agriculture class. The good ol’ boys weren’t too happy with the first, ugh, girl. Welding is way more fun than slicing potatoes or sewing a shirt.
