So whatever happened to slab bacon? In my misspent youth I used to buy chunks of slab bacon and make thick slices like that - pure bacon heaven. I haven’t seen slab bacon for retail sale in many years now - the only chunk bacon I can get is hog jowl, which I also greatly enjoy, but I would stick with slab bacon if I could get it. I even tried a few places that butcher hogs - if I wanted to buy a whole hog they would save me the bacon in chunks, but otherwise not.
