They are suppressing the resurgence of Covid-19 among the vaccinated, but it is happening.

It's happening in Hawaii
It's happening in several other states too.
It happened to 80% of 35 nuns who got the vaccine in Kentucky. Two of them died by the way.
In reality, this phenomenon is probably happening everywhere, but those are the ones making the news now.
Given the reasons above (and what's below), maybe this doesn't surprise you, but bummer if you thought the vaccine was a shield to keep you safe.

No vaccine is 100% effective. The Covid-19 vaccines are ~95% effective, meaning that 1 out of every 20 people who receive them can still catch Covid-19. The value of the vaccines is that once a sufficient number of people have been vaccinated and more than 60% are immune, we will reach herd immunity. Once we have herd immunity, we no longer have a pandemic.
Yes people have breakthrough infection. The actual efficacy is 95%. Well, lo and behold there is some small rate of breakthrough, of which none are dying. But nice try. The nun story you let know had some problems with the vaccine storage and delivery.
