A Florida judge sentenced a 21-year-old man to 24 years in prison for killing an Ohio mother and her young daughter in a 2018 traffic crash.

I can answer that question! The answer is NOTHING.
The two lives were worth 24 years in jail but the kid will probably get out in 8 (1/3 of the sentence), thus making the lives of those killed only worth 4 years each, four years they will never have.
I really understand the loss. What the kid did was really stupid. But he was just 18 and it wasn’t an issue about repeated offences and warnings. It was a heat of the moment mistake. 8 years will be long enough. He can get have a life after he gets out but he will never escape what he did.
The disparity in our justice system is troubling. How many drunk drivers have repeated violations and not much is done? There was an 18-21 year old who was texting and driving a few years ago and did the same thing running over a mother and child. She got off with probation. The 15 year carjacker who killed a guy and will be out at age 18.
Of course, look at Hillary or Hunter.
I agree Bort. This sentence is barbaric.
