I remember the song. It was one of those songs sung by a male that sounds like a female in the rendition (Neil Sedaka’s “Laughter in the Rain” is another one). It was upbeat, almost like a Jackson 5 tune.

Around that same time, there was a pop song by Ronnie Dyson called "(If You Let Me Make Love To You) Why Can't I Touch You?"

For years, I assumed it was a woman singing that song.

But turns out, Ronnie was a dude.

No Sally Carr was the lead singer of Middle of the Road who sang the version that became popular. they were a Welsh band and she was a quite lovely woman back in the day.
