It’s admirable the steps Egyptians take to preserve their history.
I saw a documentary a long time ago about Ramses II’s mummy being taken to France for study. It was received at the airport with full military honors per protocol for a head of state
I remember the Shah of Iran having a similar parade of their armies and navies of the past. this was around 1972. Lots of glitz followed by their modern army.
A few years later it was all swept away in the islamic revolution caused by Carter the Incompetent.
Why don’t they let them rest in peace?
Not really. Tourism is their cash cow and terrorism has put one heck of a dent in it. I used to live less than a mile from the museum.
Britain also goes out of their way to preserve their history. They won't even let some items won at auction leave the country. The rules for restoring listed buildings are very strict. According to their guidelines, you practically have to have an unlimited budget, or go into extreme debt, in order to be able to restore some of these places.
