Shouldn’t we actually be expecting this? I mean, the vaccines don’t stop infection they just help the immune system to kill it faster. And in some percentage, they won’t help at all depending on various individual factors.

If you ask me this is a question of poor setting of expectations. When most people hear the word “vaccine” they think “immunity from infection” but that is not the reality. You can still get infected, just much more likely to be mild and avoid hospitalization. But if you test a lot, you will find a lot. Every state seems to be reporting it as “breakthrough” but I am not sure if that is really an accurate description.

As for the deaths, we’d need more info which most of these stories don’t provide. It could be related to covid or just incidental “death with covid”.

Most of the expectations regarding these vaccines which are set by the pharma companies and our corrupt public health officials have been “poor.”

People who are post-vaccine are not “test(ed) a lot” as you suggest. They usually aren’t tested at all unless symptoms occur. I expect to see significant increases in these breakthrough cases and find it interesting that the CDC has begun an investigation of them.

I think one of the biggest and most surprising examples of “poor expectations” is the way they report efficacy in these vaccine studies. Israel’s huge post vax NEJM study reported 95% efficacy which sounded so impressive. But, when you looked below the hood it turned out that of 500,000+ vaccinated and a fully matched 500,000+ unvaccinated there were 20 covid deaths in the vaccinated group and 39 covid deaths in the unvaccinated group. This amounted to a 0.0006% unvaccinated risk of death compared to a 0.0003% in the vax group.

I think you could count on one hand how many people understood this.

And when you factor in the risk from the vaccine (Israel’s “all cause mortality” soared after the vax program and is now 4 times as high as it was in 2020) it is hard to see any real risk reduction.

No vaccine works on 100% of the population. Some people just have poor immune memory that doesn’t respond to the vaccine.

The older you are, the less robust your immune response is. I’d like to know the age cohorts of the 168 breakout cases. Are they mostly 75 and older? People with chronic disease?

My oldest daughter has poor vaccine response as a result of Lyme’s disease. She had to repeat the Hep series twice. She’s a microbiologist and must be fully vaxxed for everything.
