Your response reminded me of a Good Eats episode on oats. They had a historic rendition of an English poet and a Scottish poet discussing the merits of oats.

The English poet dismissed the human consumption of oats by pointing out that the English feed oats to their horses. The Scottish poet responded by pointing out that the English have good horses, but the Scots have good people! :)

Reminds me of an old joke my Daddy used to tell. He was a vet.

An Englishman was visiting his distant cousin up in Scotland who served him oatmeal for breakfast.

"Oats!", he snorted. "In England, we feed oats to horses!"

"Aye!", replied the cousin "And you see what fine horses they raise in England and what fine men we raise in Scotland."
