Funny story about corn on the cob:

Admiral Halsey was scheduled to meet with the Fleet commander of the Australian Navy, aboard the Aussie Flagship. The Mess command radioed to Halsey's Ship to ask what foods the Admiral preferred. The return message was that he liked corn on the cob. To the Aussies corn on the cob is cattle feed, so they didn't know how to prepre it. They put corn in a huge pot and began to boil it. After around half na hour they pulled a cob and tried it. 'Too tough still'. They boiled that corn until you could cut right throught the cob with a butter knife ... and they actually served it at the Admiral's Mess!

Lol. A pressure cooker would have come in handy.

I think you’re the only one here that understands that food is cultural. Ie corn on the cob. It has zero to do with snobbiness. But, your story about food grade - I have a feeling that’s exactly why she didn’t eat it. She had never seen human grade corn before. By the time she came here....she wasn’t interested.
