I’ve read some great articles on Vice. For the younger generations the name doesn’t have a stigma attached to it like it does for Oldsters.

Sloppy Joe stuffed cabbage - that sounds great! I’ve been pondering eating less processed bread. Sounds like a great alternative!

Sloppy Joe stuffed smoked cabbage:
Medium or large head of cabbage
1 lb or slightly more ground chuck
Sloppy joe mix
1 can chicken broth
Hollow out the cabbage leaving about 3/4 inch walls, maybe an inch thick at the bottom. Careful not to poke through the walls with knife.
Brown beef, drain grease and add sloppy joe.
Wrap cabbage in large aluminum foil leaving the top open and pulled away from the sides for a couple of inches. Make a ring out of foil for use as a base to keep cabbage level.
Slightly pull apart the cabbage walls at the top and pour chicken brown down inside the leaves.
Fill with sloppy joe mix as much as it will hold.
Smoke for a couple of hours at 250-300 and then 300 for the last hour.
It needs at least a couple of hours of smoke which could be done on a BBQ grill with offset coals and then transfer to an oven at 300 for at least and hour.
The key is to get the thick section of the base to cook all the way through to being tender.
Cheap and easy!
