A couple of weeks ago here in Wichita, a 31-year-old black woman hit a 54-year-old white man with her car as he rode his bicycle. He was not killed by car impact, but she got out of her car and finished him off with a gun as he was laying on the ground suffering from his injuries.
The police were able to track down the murderer and she is now under arrest. She has been charged with 1st degree murder, but not a hate crime. The possibility of a hate crime was never mentioned.
As one might expect, this story has vanished from the local headlines.
