It’s a tall feat for whoever runs. We need billions of dollars just to compete with the Democrats who always control the narrative - not even among candidates, but among issues. Case in point: the equivalent of billions of dollars in false negative advertising has been completed via the media and corporate America about the Georgia election law. It would take a ton of cash to run ads to counter that message and get the facts to the public.
How many people were aware of Trump’s triumphs related to Middle East peace? Relatively few. Accomplishments not thought possible would have at any other time they may have been the subject of news stories for weeks. The media paid scant attention to them. Voters were not informed of this. How many people, even now, know the vaccine rollout was formulated during Trump’s tenure to have millions of them ready to roll in the event they were deemed safe and effective? Relatively few. You could write a book on all of these positive accomplishments that very few people, perhaps even among the Republican base, are aware even happened...but those examples make the point.
People aren’t being educated and informed about basic things - we don’t socialism...that used to be universal with people not only knowing it was bad - but *why* it was bad. Now fewer and fewer people do. So our ads can’t just point out the bad things the Left is for, but we also have to educate them on why those things are bad, because people no longer know it. That will require a lot more than 30 second ads - 1 minute and 2 minute spots may be necessary. That puts us at a huge disadvantage.
Trump actually ran a very effective 2 minute ad in 2016.
If the economy is in the toilet then he has a good chance and lets face it after 4 years of Democrat control it likely will be.
Running against an incumbent like Biden or Harris suits Trump more to I think just like in 2016 with Clinton who was virtually an incumbent or a member of the Establishment
Lastly, if it’s a fair fight in a handful of states then he should prevail.
Perhaps I’m being too optimistic for FR but I don’t believe this “there will never be another election so what’s the point” line.
The fact is things can change quickly in politics.
