“... when they were naturally able to do so...”
For some... they were waiting to find a husband. I actually know a gal who had her eggs frozen because she had two choices: have a baby out of wedlock or wait for a husband. She could have married someone that wasn’t a very nice guy but chose to wait to find a “good” one. I imagine for some... they are harvesting “young” eggs because they have put off child bearing until their career is off or something of that nature. For some... they freeze their eggs immediately at a diagnosis of breast cancer (even in the lower stages where survival is very good). The treatment makes women infertile. Lastly... I have noticed that it has become more ‘talked about” since all the Kardashians started doing it.
Old hen is going to be lonely at some point in her life.
Virtually every woman has that choice. Just as virtually every man has a limited number of choices, each with its own unique set of pros and cons.
Excepting cases involving medical emergencies (like the need to undergo radiation treatments, with resultant infertility, and the like): What most people don't understand is that the very act of making a decision like that has consequences of its own (like seriously skewing your worldview).
I once dated a woman who, at one point during the proceedings (i.e., our first and - as it turns out - only date), informed me that she had an ovary "on ice."
Basket case.
