“the recurring donations swelled Mr Trump’s treasury in September and October, just as his finances were deteriorating.”
Were they deteriorating, or was his treasury swollen in September and October?
Mr. Trump ran a red light, just as it was turning green.
Next time read the fine print. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what Trump did.
Narrowly missing the mother and infant, just as they stepped onto the curb.
What a pantload. Winred sucks, but it is tied to the RNC, not to Trump. I’d never give a dime to the RNC, but once I donated to Trump (the only candidate I’ve ever supported with money), I immediately began to get deluged with begging spam and junk mail from the RNC. Much was very deceptive, leaving the RNC off the return address, using Trump’s name over and over, and putting RNC info only at the bottom of the last page. I think I remember reading that Trump sent them a cease and desist order for this practice, which they ignored.
Oh and Trump did not “lose”, he was massively defrauded of his rightful win.
Again, what a pantload of an article!
I don’t know about that. I’ve heard some others complaining about it and they didn’t pick up on it until 2 or 3 months later. Millions of supporters donated...I’m sure a substantial amount of money was obtained that way, at least initially.
The Guardian makes The People’s Daily look tame by comparison.
Next Guarniad blockbuster story: World Ends At Ten. Trump Gains a Slight Advantage. Women and Minorities Hardest Hit.
I’m sure there was a process for demanding a refund, and that he did not contest the election results just to avoid refunding donors who demanded one.
They keep puking into my smartphone, and some of the stories just have to be held up to Freep ridicule. They’re so lame.
Sorry, but WinRed does suck. (As does ActBlue.) You can’t convince me that having one, sometimes two, boxes pre-checked that you have to unselect if you want to avoid making it a recurring* donation
is anything but scummy behavior. (*And sometimes WEEKLY at that.) And they did a lot of misleading tricks with text too.
That doesn’t mean Trump was personally aware of of any of this. But it’s bad behavior designed to fool people and it deserves condemnation even if the money went to a decent cause.
I did/do not like WinRed, and would like to see President Trump drop them.
I’ll contribute to President Trump and MAGA/America First supporters, but I WILL NOT contribute through WinRed!
Agreed. But I’d like to see some sort of quantification the the actual harm done, not just generalities about the money raised, i.e., “millions,” and the presumption that all of the money raised was illegitimate. Some of it was, for sure, and ought to be refunded if it hasn’t been already. And WinRed is not likely to be used in the future because they did suck. But this is a kiddy sandbox squabble, not some big scandal, and certainly not the motivation behind the election contest.
Fact Check False
Funny, I never gave a dime unwillingly or unknowingly...
Were they fundraising in 2016? I should expect they’ll be dropped for 2024.
“Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign used pre-checked boxes and obscure design on fundraising emails to wring millions of dollars out of unwitting supporters”
And Obama’s campaign receive thousands of untraceable gift cards but I don’t remember any outcry raised about that.
I unchecked that box and it still happened.
I do not remember, FRankly.
All I know is that if WinRed is in the mix, I will not donate.
That’s outrageous! Did you contact them?
I did notice when o donated to Trump they had the make it a recurring donation checked by default... which is a little cheesy to me.. however while cheesy and questionable hardly illegal..
