Further... studies have shown elderly patients to have Vitamin D deficiencies. If nothing else, people should be encouraged to take supplements of Vitamins C and D, along with Zinc at a minimum. Those are the building blocks of immunities.
I’ve been reading up on this for months. Seems like as you get older your immune system not only weakens, naturally, but it can only fight off things you were exposed to in the past. Something new, even a flu that you would have fought off when you were younger, can take you out.
Makes you wonder if giving the elderly flu shots is a good idea knowing all that.
