If you don’t know why, good luck getting educated in this area.

AND the answer will not involve batteries OR solar panels NOR ‘modular’ nuclear nor wind (or geo-thermal).

Since your ‘physics’ is quite likely limited to the precepts in QM (Quantum Mechanics) the ‘answer’ is going to strike you as coming out of ‘left field’. I can’t help that, the problem is with your ‘set’ and the assumption in QM from over 100 years ago now.

Subject to sufficient supplies of lithium for batteries and copper and rare earth metals for electric motors, electric cars have a great technical future.

Other than the fact we'll be totally dependent on the Chinese for rare earth metals...
