The Silencing of Voices on College Campuses
American Thinker ^ | 3 Apr, 2021 | Donna M. Hughes

Today on college campuses, faculty are afraid to speak about a number of issues for fear of being verbally mobbed and denounced by angry students and faculty colleagues.

“She and I talk openly in one another’s homes, but we know we can’t talk to anyone else.”

This is not a historic quote from the days of Stalinist suppression in the Soviet Union. It is message I recently received from a graduate faculty professor in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) field referring to the secrecy with which she talks to her friend who works in university student services.

Today on college campuses, faculty are afraid to speak about a number of issues for fear of being verbally mobbed and denounced by angry students and faculty colleagues.

I know. Faculty, students, and administrators at the University of Rhode Island have recently denounced me for daring to write in 4W.pub, a feminist public forum, that humans cannot change their sex and children are not born the wrong bodies. I wrote that the belief that people can change their biological sex is a fantasy.

Now, such commonsensical statements are deemed so offensive that I must be condemned by publicly issued university statements.

Almost all institutions of higher learning have failed their core purpose.

It is necessary to clearly identify the individuals who violate rights and limit freedom and then take definitive action against them.

Once a really good, cheap online electrical engineering class becomes available, people are going to quit the Soviet Indoctrination Universities

Wake up, AMERICA. We are in the midst of a Communist takeover.

The saddest part is that Universities were designed to have students interact with ideas and to apply critical thinking and reasoning skills to see how concepts fit together (like Lego blocks) or are inconsistent and need more study before embracing or rejecting them. Albert Einstein is reported to have said, “Making everything as simple as possible, but not less...”

“I’m currently trying to work out how to write my thesis without risking a potentially career damaging backlash from members of my department.”

And this is just the beginning of the "career". I'd think it would be time to re-evaluate that choice. and since it is probably in some "studies" field, they're probably running up student loans to lock themselves in decades long denial and misery. Definitely not worth it.

It used to be that students had college advisors who helped align student capabilities with courses of study that had demand in the job market. Now it seems uselessness is a “value” to these leftists in academia.

Not since the Japanese created & implemented the concept of organized "thought police" about a century and a half ago has the world seen the concept implemented as efficiently and rapidly as is being done by our new communist rulers...

Even in Stalinist Russia it took much longer...

I work in a public university with a diversity/inclusion officer who is the enforcer of groupthink. One of her major duties is to set up “training” video programs that all faculty and staff have to view and work through annually to completion whereupon we get a certificate.

The latest two were about discrimination and inclusiveness. Weirdos who supposedly work for universities or businesses to stamp out racism, sexism, ageism, and resistance to the acceptance of transgenderism testify about their woke experiences and instruct us how to think. They have job titles like “Prevention Specialist.” In one video, I was instructed not to refer to someone as “he” or “she” because that person might not be gender “binary” Instead I am to say “they.” Imagine referring to an individual person as “they.”

Another assertion in the video was “there are many genders.” This is hogwash. It is simply silly. But as a faculty member I am required to sit through this stuff, answer questions about various scenarios, and confirm that I’ve read and accepted the company line. It is not optional.

I don’t know how many of the other faculty members in my university think this is pure crap. We are afraid to say anything, though, because we are being monitored via these online “courses” and the equity officer will know whether or not we’ve completed them. She reports to the university president. We can’t be anonymous because the instant we upload the course, our name appears automatically in the login and our participation (or lack of it) is recorded.

How many taxpayers know that their hard-earned dollars are paying to support the brainwashing these institutions are forcing on their employees and students? People who actually work for a living in difficult or dangerous jobs in all kinds of weather are paying so that an “equity officer” who is the most useless person on campus can enforce this drivel. People who stand all day cutting hair or waiting on tables and go home each night exhausted are having taxes extracted from their paycheck for this. This is simply disgraceful.
