See the octopus in question – and the damage it caused
In a video that has gone viral, the octopus can be seen in shallow waters lashing out at geologist Lance Karlson.
The creature came after him again later and struck him on the arm, before whipping his neck and upper back.
Later, when he went into the water alone, the octopus found him again and struck him.
The former lifeguard told Australian news outlet 7News that his preferred treatment for sea animal stings is vinegar, but he did not have any on him at the time.
However, he said he knew anything acidic might help, and decided to try using cola. "Turns out it works."

Silly paparazzi- should’ve realized the octopus was on vacation and left him alone or gone through his agent if he wanted photos or an autograph. Sheesh.

My understanding is that the octopus is among the most intelligent invertebrates with the best memories of all of them.

Just another belligerent Australian critter, like a “streetgang” of drop bears, a shoal of carnivorous Sulfur crested Cockatoos, or giant mutant killer hornets, a Gigantoatraxids nest, or a bunch of them, called a Megamygalomorphae, that can attack a city.

Too many drugs maybe?
I’d like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus’ garden
In the shade
He’d let us in
Knows where we’ve been
In his octopus’ garden
In the shade
I’d ask my friends
To come and see
An octopus’ garden
With me...

I’m still trying to figure out what him being a geologist had to do with the story. He wasn’t prospecting on the beach or anything like that... Maybe he is a marine geologist.

Maybe he is a marine geologist.
So, he may be in the military as well?

" his preferred treatment for sea animal stings is vinegar" I prefer an olive oil sauté with salt and pepper.

I just saw a story where a diver befriended an Octopus and hung out with it every day. Lot’s of contact. It would wait for him. Really astonishing footage.
I’ll see if I can find it...

He must have tread upon Octopus’s Garden and the octopus lashed out with all eight.

Hopefully the octopi won't start to demand reparations, for their kin being thrown onto the ice by Detroit Red Wings fans...

I think it’s going to be awhile before Red Wings fans throw Octupi on the ice again.
