I have a hybrid bicycle for road and trail.
On the right side (not seen in this picture of the left side) is a switch at the front wheel fork that unlocks the front shocks. I ride my bike on long stretches of bicycle lane and enter woods and parks along the way for trails. On the rode you don't want front shocks but on the trails you do. It's not easy< to see in the picture but there is a steep drop near the start and once you level it's fast going. If you hit the grass the bouncing is... alarming.
