I think you're correct. I have not had the vaccine. I live in Vegas and have been out to restaurants and casinos for the past year, in the near vicinity of lots of people. I've probably already been infected and didn't know it. Now I'm immune (knock on wood).

Immunity from the vaccines is actually likely to last longer than having a mild or asymptomatic case of COVID-19 since the immune response is much stronger. Further, we have ample evidence of reinfection with the Brazil variant and the South Africa variant. Those who had the April 2020 variant have very limited protection. This is the observable reality.
