The classic (at 2:33)
You should also record all of your calls, especially if you are in a one-party state.
I used to get all these credit card calls from “Sarah from credit card services.” I’d hit 1 to talk about my credit card issues. Then when the overseas foreigner would come on the line I would keep asking for Sarah. “I want to talk to Sarah.” “I think she was in my high school graduating class and there’s a reunion coming up.”
Now they spoof the calling number, usually in or near the exchange you have. If I’m in the mood I’ll ask them if “Wow, you’re calling from [local town]! Is Duffy’s Bar” still open there. They have great cheeseburgers. Have you ever been there?”
If they don’t hang up right away I start riffing on “What was the name of that smoking hot waitress there?” “Irene, Jennifer? No wait, Mohammed!”
When a scammer sees 30,000 bucks float away to another scammer they practically stroke out. Good fun

That’s a good one at turning the tables. My approach is simpler... “Who are are you looking for?” Then no matter what name I get from the other end (let’s say the name is Bob), I muster up the best wail I can as say “Bob? Oh... he’s dead!” That usually ends things in a hurry.
Thank you for posting that.
Easier - don’t pick up (or click, as the case may be) if you don’t recognize the number.
