I read a while ago that once entering the Suez two local pilots take over. THe actual crew do not pilot ships through the canal. At least that’s the rules. Followed this time? Who knows.

Who knows.Sounds right to me, I understand cargo ships entering San Francisco Bay must be boarded and guided by local pilots as well.
