I wear a clear face shield on glasses frame; nobody* has given me any flak over it.

I like those because I can still see the person’s face and their smiles. I have one and would have agreeably worn that but they’re unacceptable on a plane on their own. The announcements said we could wear one, but we must still wear a mask underneath it. I typically shop later in the evening 45 minutes before the stores close but if I have to go in prime time, I sometimes don the shield to avoid confrontations. They’re not as bad as masks for a few reasons.
The clear face shield allows a deaf or hearing disabled/hard of hearing person to read my lips.
In some states (ex: California) both the hearing impaired person and the person communicating with him/her are exempt from wearing masks.
