Every year (except the last couple), the steam locomotive Union Pacific 844 comes through town, taking people up to Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Kids always put coins on the tracks.

My kids did that back in the 70s in the Boston area.......needless to say I was not pleased.

My cousin lived in a railroad town. Of course we put pennies on the tracks. They’d get flattened out pretty nicely (this was back when pennies were made from copper. They’d be warm after being flattened.
