Not at one time did they think about what putting nano-bots in your body would do to the part that watches out for anything that will harm it - the immune system.
When they disarm that God-created immune system they cause untold havoc throughout the body.

How many cancers will the immune system not see and not get rid of because the system has been disabled?
The real problem is much worse than most people understand. The actual number of mutations in humans is quite hight. We are ‘degrading’ as a species and the rate is higher than any hoped for genetic engineering could ever over come (though that won’t stopped scientist from trying).
