The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna coronavirus vaccines are safe and effective in pregnant and breastfeeding women, according to a new study published Thursday in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
The study also found that mothers can pass antibodies to their newborns.
“That’s a very important piece of information to our patients,” Andrea Edlow, MD, the senior study author and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, told ABC News.
“We know that this vaccine works for you,” she added.
The research team studied a group of 131 women who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, including 84 pregnant, 31 breastfeeding and 16 non-pregnant women. All three groups had similar high antibody levels. The study also found no significant differences in vaccine side effects between pregnant and non-pregnant women.
Compared to pregnant women who had recovered from COVID-19, pregnant women who received the vaccine had “strikingly higher” antibody levels, the authors wrote. In addition, women who received the Moderna vaccine had higher antibody levels than those who received the Pfizer vaccine.
The research team also found that vaccine-generated antibodies were present in all of the umbilical cord and breast milk samples that were tested, which suggests that pregnant women and breastfeeding women can pass COVID-19 antibodies to their fetuses and newborns.
“That is the most comforting piece of information that’s out there,” Galit Alter, MD, one of the study authors and a professor of medicine at the Ragon Institute in Massachusetts, told ABC News.
The research team found neutralizing antibodies in the blood of pregnant women, which indicates that the antibodies can kill the coronavirus.

This is not what I hear from nurses in the health profession!
Yet....
That’s what I was thinking.
Living is a risk factor.
Going out your front door is a risk factor.
Driving to the grocery store is a risk factor.
I find it disingenuous for them to imply that if you get the “vaccine” you reduce your risk of dying.
MAYBE you reduce your risk of dying from this one specific disease, but we all still get one per and the world is loaded with things trying to take us out, Gate$ and his cronie$ included.
In MA, I read a article a few weeks aback about some hospitals where around 50% of the nursers and similar staff refused to take it.
Give him a day or so and I’m sure he will change his mind.
In today’s New York Times Magazine, Virginia Heffernan’s “A Prescription For Fear” explains that the Mayo Clinic website is a great source for straightforward, unbiased medical information, whereas WebMD’s slant is far more in favor of the pharmaceutical companies that fund that site:
She wrote:
"“In more whistle-blowing quarters, WebMD is synonymous with Big Pharma Shilling. A February 2010 investigation into WebMD’s relationship with drug maker Eli Lilly by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa confirmed the suspicions of longtime WebMD users. With the site’s (admitted) connections to pharmaceutical and other companies, WebMD has become permeated with pseudomedicine and subtle misinformation.”"
My God, would any sane woman besides a liberal bet their babies life on it at this point which is still technically in the trial phase?
This reminds me of the scene in “Mars Attacks” where aliens are chasing humans around with a tape player which is saying “Stop... we won’t hurt you... we just want to help” as they are blowing everybody away.
My “trust level” for most Media stories = 0
Antibody levels in the blood go way up when their is a challenge. For COVID, they drop below the level dectable by the test, a month or two after. So it matters a lot, the timing of the test, relative to the infection or vaccination.
I doubt that was adequately controlled for, in such a small study.
Safe is a 4 letter word
There is NO SAFETY.
Except the CORRUPT Communist antiAmerican Congress
gave them indemnity. Reconcile.
Ok thanks.
I personally have first hand information of someone that lost her baby soon after being “vaccinated” on advice of her doctor.
Just wait a bit longer until the recipients start dropping off too.
The sample size is too small to develop any meaningful conclusions. You can’t meaningfully cite it as authoritative and make policy from it.
Thats one way we got into this mess: making conclusions based on tiny modeled “ studies”.
131 folks is less than a decent pig roast.
Too many people are gleefully jumping all over this vaccine, it’s very sad to watch people forget about freedom and choose fear and let it control them. They’ll deny that, but why else would you take something tens of thousands of doctors and scientists have warned about. Also, they’ve lied this entire time, why would anyone trust them?
NO
