Remember that almost nothing that you do online is truly secure and there is a criminal somewhere who is hoping to get rich emptying your accounts... even the ones that they have created for you. Isn't progress just peachy?
MEMO: Google knows your passwords.
All the “trusted” big tech firms do... but don't worry they would never do anything bad with them or let criminals get access to their databases.
Sorry forgot the /s on my last post.
Use the Brave browser for privacy...soon they are coming put with a search engine also so you can say goodbye to Google.
Yes I use Brave, but I don’t believe that it is a panacea for security issues. If your passwords are compromised... that typically means that they have been published somewhere on the “darkweb” and Brave cannot fix that.
I’m going to trust Google to tell me if my passwords are compromised?
Sure!
Assume Google is also letting their Communist Chinese handlers in on the passwords.
For this to work, you have to tell goofgle your passwords.
I barely use Chrome on PCs... I am not sure how they know 400 of my website passwords are compromised. My assumption is that it has more to do with Android tablets and phones than the PC version of Chrome.
I don’t use Chrome - I’m tired of trying to keep up with and defuse all of Google’s intrusions on privacy. There are plenty of other browsers built on the Chromium source base.
I feel the same way. But, the browsers being used on personal computers probably provide malcontents with one of the lesser opportunities to get into your accounts. The biggest threat to people's privacy these days typically comes from the phone that they are carrying around from dawn to dusk. The apps on most people's phones are not just tracking their location but listening in on their conversations and keeping track of everything else that you are doing.
So Google knows when your password is compromised. How do they know what your password is? If they do I have a pretty good idea where the leak occurred.
Not at all new, my Freerepublic PW is claimed to be compromised. It is unique and only used on FR
Bingo
Amen
Want to up for the new search a non-gulag product.
That makes me feel a bit better.
More information given that can then be sold by Google............suckers.
First: I hope Google had made this something that can be turned off by the user.
Second: Get away from Google as fast as you can. Use a non-Google browser (I use Brave, great browser) and a non-google search engine (I use duckduckgo.com).
Third: Be careful where you go on the web. I use Web of Trust (free) to let me know when I access a site that doesn’t have a sterling reputation for security.
Fourth: Install anti-tracking software. I use Ghostery (free) to shutdown the trackers. I have accessed sites where Ghostery has found and stopped 40+ trackers.
