I know a lot of younger people (in their 30s, 40s, and 50s) who are desperately trying to get their hands on it as quickly as possible. They’ve been calling around every doctor’s office, hospital, and pharmacy in their area trying to get an appointment. Some have been debating lying about having a qualifying condition to get it.
I don’t think there’s any tapering of demand. I think the various state governments are simply too incompetent to get the doses where they need to go so people can get them.
That’s a good point.
Not just the logistical problems but also the prioritization efforts. Younger people have been shut out but seems to be opening up in various states.
Some of the delays/tapering of demands may be the dancing around re the availability of the second shot. One close to 80 year old female relative in the Mid West, is still waiting to be notified re getting her second shot.
After she got her first shot, she was told that she would be notified before the time limit for her second shot. So far, nothing. However, when she tried to get her 2nd shot at a VA clinic with her husband. She was told by the VA, that she had to go to where she got her first shot. It matter when she told the VA that she had not heard from the place that gave her, the first shot.
A relative in the SW has gotten the two shots for her husband, late 70’s and with severe other diseases. She is finally up for her first shot this weekend. Where her husband got his 2 shots.
One of our younger relatives out here used the magical # I have posted here to try and get his 2 nd shot. He was told that he had to go the pharmacy where he got his first shot and drive past about a dozen pharmacies with the drug in the county where he lives to the out of county pharmacy.
