Amish community may have reached COVID ‘herd immunity,’ health official says

An Amish community in Pennsylvania may have become the first group in the US to achieve herd immunity, a local health official claims.

The administrator of a medical center in the heart of Lancaster County’s New Holland Borough, which is known for its Amish and Mennonite communities, estimates that as many as 90 percent of the religious families have had at least one family member infected with the virus.

“So, you would think if COVID was as contagious as they say, it would go through like a tsunami; and it did,” said Allen Hoover, an administrator of the Parochial Medical Center, which caters to the religious community and has 33,000 patients.

The Amish and Mennonite groups initially complied with stay-at-home orders at the beginning of the pandemic — shuttering schoolhouses and canceling church services.

But by late April, they had resumed worship services, where they shared communion cups and holy kisses, a church greeting among believers.

What happens without big pharma’s influence?

Last April the Amish went back to church, ditched masks, and did not test. Their community was not wiped out and their pandemic is over. Natural broad herd immunity.

Didn’t we hear that was impossible?

I live near an Amish community in PA and I go to it’s indoor and outdoor markets regularly since the epidemic started. No one ever wears masks there and Covid has been virtually absent over the past year.

Stands out to me that the article gives no info about the cost they paid for ‘herd immunity’.

I assume because it appears to be no more than the lockdown areas paid.

Masking was incredibly and obviously stupid, other “social distancing” measures may have had some small helpful effect.

I see only a passing mention of the Fall wave. Which is curious.
Did they already have significant “herd immunity” by then I wonder.

That's just the opposite of this community that's had so much Covid they've supposedly reached herd immunity.

I have seen videos and interviews of Amish from PA,OH and FL and the Covid swept through and they acknowledge it but it was true herd immunity which this country should have let happen but politics took it all over once the left sensed it. The narrative is that Trump did nothing.

Will FRAUDci still require them to take his experimental, unproven promoted agent?

Wear masks?

Socially distance.

Bwahahahaha.

We’re ALL Amish, now!

According to the FR vaxxers, they should have been all wiped out.

“According to the FR vaxxers, they should have been all wiped out.”
***************************************************
Not at all. Most FR vaxxers are and have been proponents of achieving herd immunity by not doing silly things such as shutting down schools attended by young people minimally impacted by COVID-19 and mandating businesses shutting down. But if it makes you feel better, believe what you want. Vaccinations help achieve herd immunity while minimizing deaths and destruction of health.
