Seriously.
Do you get to write off zinc oxide?

What a racket...Then throw in those pensions! And the tax payers in CA wonder why taxes are choking them off.

If we’re paying them to swim out and bust up shark attacks, it might be reasonable.

Great movie. I think he was making good money, but laughed at. Little did they know.

I need some context here - how much are paramedics paid per year? LA Police?

If I were any type of LA lifesaver, such as an EMT, or an ER nurse, wow, I’d throw a fit.
To: EnquiringMind
Their salaries aren’t too far behind.
To: outpostinmass2
$59,000 for a police officer sure seems VERY far behind. They save a lot more lives than a lifeguard.

broken “public service” institutions
The very fact something like that can happen defines subversion of representative government

Many are EMTs or paramedics. Nice work IF you can successfully qualify. Smokejumping may be easier.

The highest paid Los Angeles lifeguards earn up to $392,000 annually
$44.75 per hour if they work 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. If they work 80 hours per week with time and a half after 40 that comes to a base rate of over $75.
