I usually stay away from sites like that one, but it looked legit right up until the moment I put my “other” email into link.
Once I did it I knew it was a mistake. Now I am home and have been trying to get on to that email site (proton) and I am getting messages that there is an issue from my computer.

Can you back up a couple of days on your computer.. like a reset? I have no clue.

not sure how this might help but, if you are a donor to FR, you get an alias @freerepublic.com email address E-mail sent to this address will be forwarded to your Contact E-mail address.
I haven’t figured out how to make this useful.
