The number of reported carjackings in Chicago has more than doubled to 1,125 [in 2020], according to the latest Chicago police statistics, compared to 501 in 2019.
Most often, three or four young men approach a woman outside her vehicle and at gunpoint order her to surrender the vehicle and then drive off. They also call for an Uber or Lyft and do something similar once the driver arrives.
Minneapolis Police Commander Charlie Adams told ABC News that “80 percent of our carjackings and robberies are being done by juveniles, ages from 9 up to 17.”
COVID has not only closed schools, it has kept juvenile detention centers from holding arrested youngsters, Adams said. “Some of these have been involved in 10 or more robberies. They’re not being held,” he noted.
Mandate self-defense rights for people in their vehicles equivalent to self-defense rights in their homes in conservative states. That has already gone far towards solving the problem in some states.
I suspect lack of prosecutions and resulting serious sentencing has more to do with the rise in carjackings.
But I thought the “teens” were at home taking classes with Zoom! You mean they are skipping school? You mean they don’t have parents who make sure they are on Zoom?
You mean that a whole segment of society has returned to the pre-civilization stage and is now a roving pack of feral predators?
You mean that the democrats in power made this happen and give it their full support?
I bet the poor little criminals get so bored when they’re out of school in the summer, they have to resort to murder, strong arm robbery and carjacking. These poor teens.
