I read once where a pizza critic said that Chicago pizza should be called a casserole.
“I read once where a pizza critic said that Chicago pizza should be called a casserole.”
I’ve always said the same thing. It is not a pizza.
I am of the opinion that Chicago deep dish pizza is a valid thing, is enjoyable, but should not be considered in competition with regular pizza. It is a similar but very different food group that confusingly uses the same name.
Back in the day, one of my regular dinners used to be a medium Lou Malnatis deep dish sausage pizza along with a liter of Pepsi. I weighed 142 pounds.
Not anymore ;-)
